RUC Warehouse - The Completion of Our Plate Matching Feature

One of the most complex engineering challenges for the RUC Warehouse platform is now officially ticked off. We have completed the development of our proprietary Vehicle Matching System. This feature is designed to solve a major problem for the future of New Zealand roads: ensuring that in a world of varying vehicle classes, weights, and fuel types, you are only ever looking at RUC packs that are 100% compatible with what you drive.

While the feature is not yet "live" with official pricing simply because the government has not yet finalised the RUC rates for the 2027 petrol vehicle transition the underlying engine is fully operational. When those rates are eventually set, we will plug them directly into our system, allowing for instant, automated compatibility verification.

"The logic behind the matching algorithm had to be incredibly robust," says Briyarne, CTO. "We aren't just doing a simple database lookup. We have built a 'Multi-Class Heuristic Engine' that parses your vehicle’s specific attributes against the RUC Warehouse pack taxonomy. It uses a series of recursive validation loops to ensure that a light-electric pack never shows up for a heavy-diesel fleet. By the time we hit 2027, this engine will be handling millions of combinations across the entire New Zealand fleet with sub-millisecond latency."

The feature works through our new Vehicle Panel, an interactive right-side drawer that allows you to save your vehicle registration details directly to your browser. Once your car or ute is "matched," the entire RUC Warehouse catalog transforms:

• Automated Compatibility: Compatible packs are automatically highlighted, removing the anxiety of accidentally buying the wrong RUC type.

• Personalised Browsing: While you can still browse our full range of 100+ packs, our system will intelligently surface the deals most relevant to your registered fleet.

• Persistence: Because we use local browser storage, your vehicles stay matched across different sessions without needing to create an account during this preview phase.

Adam Johnston, CEO, notes the strategic importance of this milestone. "We know the 2027 shift is going to be confusing for a lot of people who have never dealt with RUC before. This tool is all about reducing friction. You give us the plate, and we do the hard math in the background. It is about making sure New Zealanders have a tool that is ready for the future, even before the future arrives."
