Dunedin startup founders Adam Johnston and Briyarne Pascoe have launched RUC Hub, a free public platform designed to help New Zealand drivers understand the upcoming shift to universal road user charges.
RUC on Rails co-founder Adam Johnston told Parliament’s Transport and Infrastructure Select Committee that the proposed road user charge reforms require changes to ensure the system functions fairly. Johnston argued that the current definition of an approved RUC provider is too broad and risks entrenching incumbent players, warning that the structure being proposed “is not a competitive market”.
